There is an important change at the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), and I want members of the Sleep Pathways Guild to understand what it means without assuming that the RPSGT exam has suddenly changed.

BRPT announced that it selected Association Headquarters (AH) as its new professional management firm. According to BRPT's August 5, 2026 announcement, the partnership became effective June 15, 2026.

The key point for RPSGT candidates: BRPT announced a change in professional management. The announcement did not announce a new RPSGT exam blueprint, new exam content, new scoring, or new eligibility requirements.

What Changed at BRPT?

BRPT remains an independent nonprofit certification board. Its credentials include the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH).

Association Headquarters will now provide management and operational support. BRPT said that financial services, web services, marketing, and technology services will be centralized under AH, while the existing BRPT staff will remain in place as employees of Association Headquarters.

That makes this more than a simple mailing-address change. It is a change in the infrastructure supporting the credentialing organization.

BRPT Also Has New Executive Leadership

BRPT's staff team will be led by MaryBeth Kurland, MPA, CAE, ICE-CCP as Executive Director. BRPT stated that she replaces James Magruder following his retirement at the end of June.

BRPT reported that Kurland has nearly 30 years of association-management experience, including more than 15 years working with credentialing organizations. Association Headquarters currently identifies her as an Account Executive/Relationship Officer on its leadership team.

Does This Mean the RPSGT Exam Is Changing?

No exam change was announced in this management announcement.

For anyone currently preparing for the RPSGT examination, I would not change a study plan solely because BRPT changed management companies.

Use current official documents. If BRPT later publishes a revised candidate handbook, exam blueprint, eligibility pathway, or policy, that new authoritative document—not speculation—should guide candidates.

What BRPT Says Credential Holders Can Expect

BRPT says credential holders can expect improved responsiveness, expanded resources, stronger communication, streamlined processes, and programming focused on the needs of sleep health professionals.

Because AH will support web, marketing, technology, finance, and organizational operations, it is reasonable to watch for future changes to the BRPT website, candidate communications, online processes, credentialing systems, and professional resources. Those possibilities should not be confused with confirmed changes to the RPSGT examination.

Why RPSGT Candidates Should Check Document Dates

This transition is a good reminder for every RPSGT candidate and sleep technologist: always check the version and publication date of the source you are using.

Websites change. PDF links move. Candidate handbooks are revised. Old search results and bookmarks can remain accessible after newer information is published.

What Sleep Pathways Guild Is Doing

When something important changes, I want the Guild to answer three practical questions:

What changed?
What does it mean?
What should an RPSGT candidate or credential holder do differently, if anything?

The goal is not to create alarm every time a webpage changes. The goal is to identify meaningful, authoritative updates that affect learning, exam preparation, eligibility, or professional credentialing.

What Should You Do If You Are Studying for the RPSGT Exam Right Now?

Keep studying.

There is nothing in BRPT's management announcement by itself that says candidates need to abandon their current preparation. Continue using the current official RPSGT blueprint and trustworthy sleep-technology references while watching for future BRPT updates.

If BRPT releases a revised blueprint, candidate handbook, eligibility requirement, testing policy, or other major document, Sleep Pathways Guild will review the change and help explain its practical impact.
