Sleep Pathways Guild Professional Update

New resources for the sleep-tech community

The Shift Report has several new updates for sleep technologists, RPSGT credential holders, students, educators, and sleep-lab professionals.

The goal of The Shift Report is simple: find developments that matter to people working in sleep technology, check the original sources, and explain why the information may be useful in practice.

Here is what has been added recently.

RPSGT Recertification in 2026

A practical review of BRPT recertification requirements, including the five-year credential cycle, 50 qualifying CECs, the current ISR-credit limit, documentation requirements, CPR/BLS considerations, and why waiting until the deadline can create unnecessary problems.

CMS Sleep Study Fact Check

A recent CMS update to a polysomnography article looked like it might signal a coverage change. The revision history showed otherwise. The Shift Report explains why an updated date does not automatically mean Medicare coverage changed.

Free CEC Corner

We verified several current AAST continuing-education opportunities that are free for eligible AAST members, including 2026 A2Zzz learning activities and sleep-technology webinars. Eligibility, pricing, credit amounts, and availability should always be rechecked on the provider's official page.

Autoscoring and Human Review

As automated scoring becomes more capable, the professional question is not simply whether software can score a study. The Shift Report looks at why technologists still need the signal knowledge, scoring judgment, artifact recognition, and quality-control skills to recognize when automated output needs correction.

Why these updates matter: Credentialing rules, reimbursement language, continuing education, scoring technology, and professional standards can affect the day-to-day work of a sleep technologist. The Shift Report is designed to translate those developments into practical, sleep-tech-focused information without overstating what the source actually says.

How The Shift Report is prepared

The Shift Report is an AI-assisted research resource that is human reviewed and approved. Primary and authoritative sources are prioritized when available, and clinical, credentialing, regulatory, reimbursement, and professional claims are checked before release.

AI helps with research organization, source comparison, and drafting support. Final editorial judgment remains human.

Source-first approach: When an item comes from BRPT, CMS, AASM, AAST, FDA, or another authoritative organization, readers should be able to trace the important claim back to the original source. If the source does not support a conclusion, The Shift Report should not present that conclusion as fact.
